Australia Booth at 2018 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

*This gluten free dining experience took place in September 2018. It includes notes about dairy free modifications.

Australia Booth - Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2018One of the staples of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is Australia marketplace booth. It debuted in 1997 and has been a good go-to booth for gluten friendly options for many years. None of the menu items have really changed in the past few years. So, it's good to have a booth to visit that has gluten friendly dishes that are repeats at the festival.Australia Marketplace Booth Menu - Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2018This year the Australia booth has two gluten friendly dishes. The dessert option contains gluten. The two gluten friendly dishes are repeats at the festival and have been at the Australia booth for many years.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths or booths that contain almost all gluten friendly dishes.Epcot Food & Wine Festival - Australia Booth ShrimpOn my first visit to the booth this year, I ordered the Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Pepper, Onion and Snap Peas. It is marked as gluten friendly and is also dairy free. It is currently marked as $5.50 per serving and is a Disney Dining Plan Snack Eligible Credit. In years past, I have found this dish to be spicy, but not so spicy that it was hard to eat. But, on this particular visit, I thought the dish was way too spicy. I am a huge fan of spicy food. So, that's saying a lot for me to say it was too much. The spice level was so overpowering that I had to guzzle water after eating it. And, my mouth burned for quite a while after. If spicy food is not your thing, I would avoid this dish.I'm kind of hoping that this was just a fluke and that it's not the normal spice level it should be. I might try to order it again once during the festival. But, if it's still too spicy, it will be a pass from me. That's a shame because the shrimp and combination of sweet and spicy flavors should be a winner. For me, it was just far too spicy to be tasty. If you're gluten free, you may like the other gluten friendly item available at this booth - Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies. If you're dairy free, you'll need to avoid the mint pesto on this dish.Overall, I'm not sure we'll be getting anything else from Australia's marketplace booth this year during the festival. With an overly spicy dish, we'd prefer to find options at other booths instead.Have you been to the Australia booth? What did you think about the gluten friendly options there?

The Almond Orchard Booth at 2018 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

The Almond Orchard booth hosted by Blue Diamond Almond Breeze is a relatively new booth to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival debuting in 2017. It’s returned this year for the festival. And, it is one booth that did not list any gluten friendly items but seemed like a booth that should have them due to the use of Blue Diamond products that are gluten free. With this in mind, we decided to stop by the booth to find out some more information about the dishes served there. The Almond Orchard Booth at 2018 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalDisney notes on their official Food & Wine Festival site that guests can speak to a chef or special diets trained cast member at any time about ingredients and dishes served at the Festival. When I stopped by, I asked to speak to a chef. Unfortunately, the chef was not able to come over to the booth. But, they were able to have a radio discussion with the chef to go over the ingredients. The Almond Orchard Booth at 2018 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe chef told us via radio that the Banana Almond Soft Serve Sundae served with Fresh Berries and Chocolate Almond Streusel was gluten friendly with no modifications. The same was true for the Almond Breeze Strawberry Smoothie. The chef also told us that the Creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Pulled Chicken, Toasted Blue Diamond Almonds and Parmesan Cheese served with Nut Thins® Crackers and the Fire-roasted Tomato Hummus topped with Blue Diamond Lightly Salted Roasted Almonds and served with Blue Diamond Artisan Nut Thins® Multi-seeds Crackers were also gluten friendly. But, he did state that anything made in their catering kitchen (as most dishes at the festival are) had an increased chance of cross-contamination.With that in mind, we noted that every single item on the Almond Orchard menu was technically gluten friendly but not listed on the festival menu as such. It always seems like there are one or two booths where this happens every year. But, it's was surprising to learn that every single item was gluten friendly. And, the chef seemed to feel strongly that the Banana Almond Soft Serve Sundae and Almond Breeze Strawberry Smoothie were both gluten friendly with no major concerns about cross contamination. That being said, no matter what booth you go to at the Festival there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths or booths that contain almost all gluten friendly dishes -- or in this case, where the items are not marked gluten friendly.Banana Almond Sundae at the Almond Orchard BoothI felt pretty comfortable ordering the Banana Almond Soft-serve Sundae with Fresh Berries and Chocolate Almond Streusel. It is currently $4.50 per serving and is a snack eligible credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The chef via radio told us that this dish is gluten friendly. Our friends at Vegan Disney World confirmed that it can be made vegan by omitting the Chocolate Almond Streusel. (see follow-up to my review below with some notes about the Streusel)Well, I have to say that so far, this may be my favorite dessert that I've had at the Food & Wine Festival in years. It was so good! If you like bananas, then you will enjoy this dessert. It does have a fairly strong banana flavor, as we learned the soft serve is just bananas and almond milk. Combined with the fresh berries and a nice crunch of the streusel on top, and you have a real winner. Our friends at Vegan Disney World were able to thinly sliced plain almonds on their vegan version of this sundae for some added crunch too. So, you don't have to miss out if you're dairy free or vegan.Banana Almond Sundae at the Almond Orchard at Epcot Food & Wine FestivalWe visited the Almond Orchard Booth again on another night to get the Banana Almond Soft-serve Sundae with Fresh Berries and Chocolate Almond Streusel and try the Creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Pulled Chicken, Toasted Blue Diamond Almonds and Parmesan Cheese served with Nut Thins® Crackers. One of the first things I noticed as they were preparing other sundaes for guests was that the Streusel looked completely different. It actually looked like it contained chocolate (the last time, it did not) and also oats. I do not eat any oats at Disney because Disney often marks non-certified gluten free oats as safe for guests. And, the only gluten free oats I have encountered at Disney has been Bob's Red Mill gluten free oats which are mechanically sorted and may have issues with cross-contamination. I stick to purity protocol oats only, as those are the safest oats for celiacs to consume. Next time I visit, I will be asking some additional questions about the Chocolate Streusel ingredients too!I did ask if they had sliced almonds, as recommended by Vegan Disney World, to add to my sundae. But, they said they did not. So, I just ordered it without any topping. I have to say that the sundae itself was still quite delicious. I think they gave me extra berry sauce this time to make up for the lack of topping. One thing I did notice was that the topping served on the Spinach and Artichoke Dip that we ordered had the same topping that was on my sundae the last time. So, I would ask for that on my next visit or continue to enjoy it minus any topping. I do think the crunch adds a lot to the dish though!Spinach & Artichoke Dip at the Almond Orchard Booth at the Epcot Food & Wine FestivalNext up, we tried the Creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Pulled Chicken, Toasted Blue Diamond Almonds and Parmesan Cheese served with Nut Thins® Crackers. It is currently $5.00 per serving and is a snack eligible credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The chef via radio told us that this dish is gluten friendly. It does contain dairy both in the dip and crackers and cannot be modified to be dairy free.Since I have reintroduced dairy back into my diet, I knew this would be a must try at the Almond Orchard booth. I have to say this was a real winner for me. I liked the creamy dip and the combination of flavors. The toasted almonds on top also added a really nice crunch to what could be considered a very mushy dip. It worked well with the crackers too, though I wish we would have been given more crackers because there was a lot of dip for the serving. This is one I would most definitely get again. Brandon, on the other hand, was not a fan of this at all.The Almond Orchard is now a festival favorite for me. I will definitely be going back to the booth for repeat visits throughout the festival. I hope to try the hummus and the smoothie offered there too. It's also nice to know that this booth is gluten friendly despite the lack of labels this year. I do hope that Disney will work to improve labeling and gluten friendly offerings -- especially with this year's Festival including a record low number of marked options. We'll be updating this review with more info as we get it, especially if we can get the ingredients lists.Would you be interested in the options at the Almond Orchard booth? What would you order if you went there?

Brazil Booth at 2018 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

*This gluten free dining experience took place in September 2018. It includes notes about dairy free options.

For Food & Wine Festival Gluten Free marketplace booth options, be sure to click over to the marketplace booth page for more info.

Brazil Booth Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2018Brazil has been a long time booth at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival debuting in 1996. So, it's fair to say that it's pretty popular. As a gluten free guest, Brazil has always been one of my top booths for gluten friendly options. In fact, there have been several years, like 2016, where every single dish served at the booth has been marked gluten friendly. So, it's a good go-to for any GF guest.Brazil Booth Menu - Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2018This year, Brazil has two gluten friendly options. Unfortunately, the Seafood Stew is not marked GF, and I suspect it's due to potential cross-contamination with an ingredient (i.e. being unable to confirm the sourcing) rather than gluten in the dish. But, I haven't checked yet this festival season to confirm this. With that in mind, because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths or booths that contain almost all gluten friendly dishes.Brazil - Pork Belly - Food & Wine Festival 2018The Brazil booth has two of my favorite festival staples. The first is the Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato and Onions. This dish is marked gluten friendly and is also dairy free. It is currently marked as $5.75 per serving and is a snack eligible item on the Disney Dining Plan.Although there have been some complaints about the consistency of the way that the pork belly has been cooked over the years, I have never found it to be a major issue. In fact, when I ordered it this time, it was perfectly crispy and well cooked. Add in the flavorful black beans and a fresh salsa on top for an outstanding dish. I admit, I kind of miss the touch of avocado on top. But, it's still one of my favorite gluten friendly dishes of the festival.Brazil Pork Belly and Brazilian Cheese BreadThe second dish marked gluten friendly at the Brazil booth is Pão de Queijo, also known as Brazilian Cheese Bread. This dish is marked gluten friendly but does contain dairy and cannot be modified to be dairy free. It is currently marked as $4.25 and is a snack eligible item on the Disney Dining Plan.If you can have dairy, you can never go wrong with Brazilian Cheese Bread. This has been a very consistently tasty dish throughout the years at the festival and one that frequently sells out or runs out on any given day. It's that popular.Overall, both of the gluten friendly options available at the Brazil booth are some of my favorites of the festival and a must do on any festival visit.Have you been to the Brazil booth in festivals from years past? What are your favorite dishes served at this booth?

Culinary Corridor - Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2018Active Eats is a relatively new booth at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival debuting in 2017. It's returned this year for the festival and has one gluten friendly option available. Thankfully, it's a play on one of my favorite festival dishes from the past several years -- the Verlasso Salmon -- so I knew I had to check it out.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths or booths that contain almost all gluten friendly dishes.Active Eats Menu The Active Eats menu lists the Spice-crusted Verlasso® Salmon with Warm Lentil Power Salad, Crushed Avocado and Sherry Vinegar as gluten friendly. It is $5.75 per serving and is a Disney Dining Plan Snack Eligible item.We also inquired about the dairy free status of this dish. After the cast members radioed a chef, it was confirmed that the avocado contains dairy in some way. But, the dish can be easily be modified to be dairy free by omitting the avocado.Active Eats Booth - SalmonOverall, we liked the festival's take on the Verlasso Salmon this year. But, it wasn't our favorite version. That's mostly due to the warm lentil salad that acts as the base for this dish. The flavors to this salad were a bit bland. And, it was under-seasoned. That being said, we thought the salmon was extremely flavorful, well seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Epcot definitely has cooking the salmon dishes at festivals down to an art. And, we've found them to be consistently good throughout the years. If you're dairy free, you won't miss out too much by omitting the avocado. We enjoyed it, but it wasn't a make or break component to the dish.I'm not sure this would be a repeat dish every time we visit. But, I'm sure we'll order it at least one more time before the festival ends. It's a solid dish and filling for the price. That being said, we miss the version from the last few years with quinoa and chimichurri and hope they bring it back next year. What do you think about the updated Verlasso Salmon dish? Would you order it when you visit?

Chef Tony Marotta Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Culinary Demonstration -- 2016 Food & Wine Festival

*This culinary demonstration took place on October 18, 2016. Guests attending culinary demonstrations with a special diet should contact WDW’s Special Diets Department in advance.Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It Culinary Demo with Tony Marotta 2016Disney's Epcot Food & Wine Festival always offers new and interesting culinary experiences for guests, and each year, it seems like there's a new demo or meal offering. This year, Disney introduced a new culinary demo series called, "Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It!" which offered guests a chance to work with a chef to create a recipe highlighted by the chef.I've previously been to some of the more basic culinary demonstrations, which include a food sample and a wine sample, but this sounded like a fun experience. The "Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It!" demos took place daily from 4-5 p.m. at the Festival Center, Chef's Showcase. Tickets were $49 per person, tax included. On this particular occasion, Brandon and I had gone to Chef Kevin Dundon's culinary demo during the Epcot 2016 Food & Wine Festival at 2 p.m. and then ended up going to Chef Tony Marotta's "Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It!" at 4 p.m. So, it was all cooking all day!Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It, Demo with Chef Tony MarottaChef Tony is the head chef at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort (home to the amazing gluten free & allergy friendly beignets), so it's no surprise that his dish for the day was decidedly New Orleans inspired. We would be creating our very own New Orleans Style Cobb Salad. Plus, as we learned, we'd get to make our own blackening seasoning and even got to take it home. (Yes, I'll totally be recreating this dish on My Gluten Free Disney Kitchen!).Here are some video highlights from the demo:New Orleans BBQ Salad from Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It DemoWe had everything we needed to create our own custom salads. This made it easy, as the cheese could omitted with no worries, and any allergy offending ingredients could be switched too.The culinary team even went above and beyond to make sure all the guests attending the demo had what they needed and that any modifications could be made. Since everything was pre-packaged, that was really easy!Brandon is allergic to fish and shellfish, so the team swapped out his shrimp for more chicken.New Orleans BBQ Salad from Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It DemoFirst up, Chef Tony showed us how to make our seasoning mix and walked us through how we would season and cook our protein. He then showed us how to make our own salad dressing, giving us the option to customize our recipe every step of the way.On a side note, I loved the New Orleans flare in every part of the demo, including the beads we had on the table!New Orleans BBQ Salad from Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It DemoAs you can see from my completed salad above, I chose add lots of chicken, shrimp, ham, and avocado to my salad. Topped with our homemade dressing, it was a huge hit. Even Brandon, who is not a big salad fan, said this was really good.Swag from Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It DemoAs a demo take-away, we received a copy of the recipe (which I'll be sharing here on the blog soon!), our own custom blackening seasoning, and a really lovely small Epcot Food & Wine Festival cutting board. How cool is that? For $49, this was definitely a nice touch.Photo with Chef Tony MarottaOverall, we had a great time and enjoyed the small atmosphere. The seating for these demos are very limited, and I would say there were about 14 of us in total. It gave us a lot of time to interact with Chef Tony and ask any questions we wanted about the dish. Plus, on the way out, we had to take a photo with the Chef himself! If you have a special dietary need, I would definitely recommend contacting Disney's Special Diets Department in advance to discuss any needs. Many of the Disney chefs are very attune to making allergy friendly meals and often make their dishes during the festival allergy friendly or easily modified, which is great. Chef Tony and his team did an awesome job with our salad options! Here's the full 2016 Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Schedule including other allergy friendly demos, such as the one from Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC, so you can see what types of demos might be available. Only time will tell if this series was successful enough to be a repeat in 2017. I do hope it does because we had a great time at it!A special thanks to Chef Tony for making a gluten free and dairy free friendly dish!

Chef Kevin Dundon Culinary Demonstration — 2016 Food & Wine Festival

*This culinary demonstration took place on October 18, 2016. This does not reflect a typical culinary demo experience at Food & Wine as I was able to connect with the Raglan Road staff ahead of time. Guests attending culinary demonstrations with a special diet should contact WDW’s Special Diets Department in advance.Kevin Dundon Culinary Demo 2016I'm a huge fan of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival culinary demonstration series. Offering a small taste of a dish and a glass of wine, these culinary demos feature chefs from the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as celebrity chefs, whipping up their favorite dishes -- all at a reasonable cost (typically, $15 a person).I try to go to at least a few demos each year, and I specifically look forward to the ones featuring Chef Kevin Dundon from Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs. Chef Kevin brings such fun and excitement to his demos, and even better, because I'm a repeat guest each year, I'm lucky enough to be able to connect with Chef Kevin and the team at Raglan Road about gluten free options. This year, Chef Kevin went above and beyond, making me a gluten free version of his lamb pie. How cool is that? My dish was brought to me separately by one of the Disney cast members, and I checked in about one hour prior to connect with them and to figure out the easiest spot for me to sit for them to identify me when it came time to serve the food. Here are some video highlights of Chef Kevin Dundon's culinary demo that we went to.As you can see from the demo, Chef Kevin is passionate about fresh, simple ingredients. He's also a huge adovcate for celiac disease and those with gluten sensitivity. I'm always impressed with how knowledgeable he is and how he incorporates accommodating special dietary needs into his restaurants.Gluten Free Lamb Pie at Kevin Dundon 2016 Culinary DemoMy lamb pie was presented to me with a mint pea puree and some fresh greens. Made with a gluten free puff pastry dough (which I wish I could find easily in stores!), the lamb pie was full of rich flavor.Gluten Free Lamb Pie from Kevin Dundon 2016 Culinary DemoInside there was plenty of lamb and vegetables like celery root, carrots, and celery. The flavors were rich, but not overpowering, and total comfort food. In fact, I loved it so much that I told Chef Kevin I'd love to see it on their menu as an option for gluten free guests. It was that good!Brandon had the gluten-filled version and also said it was really good.Kevin Dundon 2016The neat part about this demo is that because Chef Kevin knew I was there, he demonstrated how to make both the gluten-filled version and gluten free version on stage. He even had gluten free puff pastry on hand.Sarah with Chef Kevin DundonAfterwards, I got a chance to chat with Chef Kevin, and of course, take a photo. I can't thank Chef Kevin Dundon enough for all that he does to make amazing gluten free food at his restaurants (thank goodness for gluten free fish & chips at Raglan Road!), and for giving me a special culinary demo experience at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. His demos are always fun, and he always has surprises up his sleeve (like the time he brought me up on stage back in 2013!). If you're every curious about these demos and have special dietary needs, I recommend contacting Disney's Special Diets Department prior to your visit for questions and concerns.A special thanks to Chef Kevin, the Raglan Road team, and the cast members who made my visit extra special.

Africa Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Africa Marketplace Booth at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2016The Africa marketplace booth has been around since 1997 at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and, believe it or not, has been one that I've actually never visited. They usually have at least one gluten free option (but it almost always contains dairy). This year, there is one dish listed as gluten free.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items).Africa Booth Beef with PapThe Berbere-Style Beef Tenderloin Tips served with onions, jalapenos, tomato, and pap is a marked as gluten friendly. I decided to try this dish with the recommended wine pairing, the Simonsig Pinotage, a hearty red wine. Alexis from Alexis's Gluten Free Adventures recommended this when she tried the dish back in 2014 (you can read her full review on her blog).Overall, I thought this dish was good, but wasn't as amazing as the dishes from the Greenhouse Guru, my favorite booth of the festival (that is entirely made of gluten friendly items). The beef was a bit spicy, so if you're not a fan of spice, I would skip this dish. I would also warn against tough meat. My beef was really fatty and tough, not exactly tender like I expected it to be.I don't think Africa will be a repeat booth for me, but I'm glad I tried the dish. It was good, but definitely not as delicious as some of the other festival offerings. What do you think of the Africa Marketplace Booth? Would you try the Berbere-style Beef?

Patagonia Marketplace Booth at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2016Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDWThe Patagonia marketplace booth at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival has been one of my favorite repeat booths at the festival for several years. I've been a fan of the Verlasso Salmon dish at the Patagonia booth and have to stop several times every year to get it. This year, there are two dishes listed as gluten free.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items).Verlasso Salmon at Patagonia at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe Roasted Verlasso salmon with quinoa salad and arugula chimichurri is both gluten free and dairy free. Though, I do sometimes find that the salmon is a bit overcooked, the combination of flavors is a winner to me every time. The quinoa salad is always nice, but the real star of this dish is the chimichurri! They were pretty heavy-handed with the chimichurri when I visited, and I'm OK with that! The salmon also paired really well with the Malbec on the menu. If you like red wines, this was definitely a great one.Grilled Beef Skewer at Patagonia at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalBrandon also got the Grilled beef skewer with chimichurri sauce and boniato purée. This dish is gluten free but does contain dairy. I tried this last year and really loved it, and Brandon said this is so far his favorite dish of the festival.Overall, we'll be back again to the Patagonia booth. Every I know enjoys at least one of the options here, and it's definitely a repeat booth every Epcot Food & Wine Festival season. What do you think of the Patagonia Marketplace Booth? What dish do you want to try?

Ireland Marketplace Booth at Epcot 2016 Food & Wine FestivalThe Ireland marketplace booth at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival has been at the festival for several years now. For the last few years, they've had one gluten free dish -- Warm Chocolate Pudding with Irish Cream Liqueur Custard.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items).Warm Chocolate Pudding at Ireland at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalMy family and I split the Warm Chocolate Pudding with Irish Cream Liqueur Custard. This dish is gluten free and does contain dairy. Because I've been re-introducing a bit of dairy back into my diet, I decided to try a few bites. This dessert is very rich. If you like Irish cream, you will absolutely love it. I personally preferred the Red Wine Chocolate Truffle from the Chocolate Studio, but this was a nice dessert option. I probably won't get this dessert at Ireland again -- but that's because of personal preference, not because it wasn't tasty. It's a nice option, just not my personal favorite. What do you think of the Ireland Marketplace Booth? Would you order the Warm Chocolate Pudding?

Australia Marketplace Booth Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2016The Australia marketplace booth at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival is a favorite having been at the festival for many years. With several gluten free options, it's a spot that I usually stop at least once during the Food & Wine Festival. This year, there are two dishes listed as gluten free.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items).Grilled Shrimp at Australia at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalI ended up ordering the Grilled Sweet and Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Pepper, Onion, and Snap Peas. I got this last year, and really enjoyed it. It's a gluten free and dairy free dish with lots of flavor and a bit of spice.I love the sweet and spiciness of it. If you're not a big spice fan, you may want to avoid this or make sure you have lots of water on hand. While it wasn't super spicy, I did need to get a drink of water afterwards.Overall, I love this dish and really like the Australia booth. It's an easy go-to and one I'll definitely be visiting again this year. What do you think of the Australia Marketplace Booth? What dish do you want to try?

Greenhouse Guru Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

*This dining experience took place in September 2016.

For Food & Wine Festival Gluten Free marketplace booth options, be sure to click over to the marketplace booth page for more info.

Greenhouse Guru Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe Greenhouse Guru at Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival is one of the new marketplace booth offerings this year. Sponsored by Village Farms, all of the dishes highlight tomatoes. I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes, but I couldn't help but visit this booth because it is 100% gluten free (even the alcohol is gluten free).Greenhouse Guru and Brazil are the only two booths where the food offerings are all gluten free, which makes them both better options for those gluten free guests concerned with potential cross-contamination.The risks at these booths are greatly reduced because there is no gluten present in any of the dishes, though it is important to note that all food is prepared in catering kitchens where gluten may be found.Greenhouse Guru at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalOf the three dishes at this booth, I was most interested the Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with Lump Crab Meat. It sounded delicious and refreshing while touring the parks on a hot Florida afternoon.Heirloom Tomato Salad from Greenhouse Guru at Epcot 2016 Food & Wine FestivalMy stepdad ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad with Goat Cheese, Aged Balsamic Vinegar and Micro-Basil, and he let me sample it.I liked it well enough. If you're lactose free and can tolerate goat's milk cheese, this might be a dish to try. It's light and refreshing, but you really have to be a tomato lover to enjoy it. I liked the balsamic vinegar, but it's not enough to make me order it myself personally.Chilled Tomato Gazpacho at Greenhouse Guru at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalI ordered the Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with Lump Crab Meat which is both gluten free and dairy free. I absolutely loved this dish. It was super refreshing and very light. It was perfect for a hot day. The gazpacho was nicely seasoned and not too spicy, and the crab meat was the perfect topping for it. I would definitely get this again.Duck Confit at Greenhouse Guru at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalOn another visit, Brandon and I stopped by and tried the Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-Roasted Salsa. Although, I'm partial to the Gazpacho, this may be hands down the best gluten free dish I've had this year at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. So rich and delicious, the polenta added even more richness to the already rich duck. I'm really not a big duck fan, but this was insanely good. It was so tender that the duck literally fell apart almost like pulled pork. The fire-roasted salsa was a nice addition to the dish too. This dish does contain dairy and can't be modified to remove it, but if you can have dairy, it's definitely worth getting!Tomatoes at Greenhouse Guru at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalAlso on display at the Greenhouse Guru are tomato plants from Living with the Land. When Brandon and I went on the Behind the Seeds Tour there recently, our tour guide told us this would be on display during Food & Wine, so it was nice to see it! It's also pretty impressive to see this massive tomato plant display.Overall, I'd definitely go to Greenhouse Guru again. I loved the gazpacho and the duck confit and hope to get them at least one more time before the festival is over. What do you think of the Greenhouse Guru Marketplace Booth? What dish do you want to try?

Islands of the Caribbean Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

*This dining experience took place in September 2016.

For Food & Wine Festival Gluten Free marketplace booth options, be sure to click over to the marketplace booth page for more info.

Islands of the Caribbean Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalNew to the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival is Islands of the Caribbean, a booth that highlights favorites from your favorite Caribbean islands. The booth has one gluten free item -- the Mojo Pork. It also has a Frozen Mojito which I had been looking forward to trying.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. Use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items).View from Islands of the Caribbean at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe booth is located in the spot that was a location for Puerto Rico in years past. In fact, it will look very similar to that set-up. The views while you wait in line are gorgeous, and I even caught a sunset rainbow while looking around here.Islands of the Caribbean Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe marketplace booth area is quite large, and you'll have plenty to explore. There is a good amount of tables and areas to enjoy your food, but it's a very popular booth and can get busy quickly.Islands of the Caribbean at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalLike the signs I found in the Islands of the Caribbean marketplace booth said, I fell in love with Mojo Pork too.Mojo Pork and Frozen Mojito at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival Islands of the Caribbean BoothThe Mojo Pork served with Black Beans, Cilantro Rice, and Pickled Red Onions is gluten free. Because I have been re-introducing dairy back into my diet, I did not ask if it was dairy free due to the crowds. But, I will be going back during a slower time to double-check, as I suspect that it is.I really enjoyed this dish. The roasted pork was simple but delicious and perfect with the pickled red onions. The rice and beans were good, and the beans almost had a slight vinegar taste to them. They were very different from the black beans I got at the Brazil booth. I think I preferred the Crispy Pork Belly in Brazil over the one in the Islands of the Caribbean, but it was still really good. The Frozen Mojito was delicious, though a very small size for $9.50. I would probably try the Caribbean Sangria if I visited this booth again (which is pretty likely).I do wish there had been more options at this booth, but I definitely enjoyed what I ordered there. What do you think of the Islands of the Caribbean Marketplace Booth? What dish do you want to try?

Chocolate Studio Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalNew to the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival is the Chocolate Studio, a marketplace booth dedicated to one of my favorite things in the world...CHOCOLATE!Thankfully, if you're gluten free you can get your chocolate fix at the Chocolate Studio thanks to two gluten free dishes on the menu.Because this booth is NOT 100% gluten free, there is always an increased risk of cross-contamination. But, one thing I like about this booth is that all of the desserts are almost entirely pre-prepared in a commercial catering kitchen, so there's less chance of a risk at the booth itself. Still, use your own judgement when consuming items that are not in dedicated gluten free booths (this year only Brazil and the Greenhouse Guru have entirely gluten free food items). The Chocolate Studio at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalI love the decor of the Chocolate Studio. It fits in nicely with the Wine & Dine Studio next door (which sadly is not as gluten free friendly). The Chocolate Studio at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThey have some really cool displays on hand too. and you learn a bit about flavors from chocolate.Red Wine Chocolate Truffle and Justin Cabernet Sauvignon at the Chocolate StudioBrandon and I decided to get the Red Wine Chocolate Truffle and Justin Cabernet Sauvignon. The Red Wine Chocolate Truffle is gluten free, but does contain dairy. Because I've been re-introducing a bit of dairy back into my diet, I thought the smaller truffle portion might be better than getting the Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle. On the next visit, I may try that as it looked really delicious. Both of us really loved the truffle. You could taste the red wine in the truffle, but neither of us found it to be really overpowering. It paired really well with our Justin Cabernet Sauvignon which was a nice earthy red wine. We got another the Michael David Winery Seven Deadly Zins Zinfadel (another red wine) when we visited the Wine & Dine Studio and preferred the Justin Cabernet Sauvignon at the Chocolate Studio.Overall, if you have a chocolate craving, the Chocolate Studio will do nicely. If you love a rich chocolate experience, the Red Wine Chocolate Truffle is an excellent option. It's a must get again this festival for both of us.What do you think of the Chocolate Studio Marketplace Booth? What chocolate dish do you want to try?

Brazil Marketplace Booth at 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe Brazil marketplace booth at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival has been one of my favorites for the past several years. The options here have been mostly gluten free at this booth for the last few years making it a great go-to spot for GF visitors. This year, Brazil's food offerings are all gluten free. The only non-GF item at the booth appears to be a beer option. This is actually great news for those of us who are concerned with potential cross-contamination, as it greatly reduces the risks. On our first night, this was a must visit for me!Brazil Marketplace Booth Food Options at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2016Brandon and I decided to split the Crispy Pork Belly served with Black Beans and Tomato, the Brazilian Cheese Bread, and each get a drink. I chose the Carnaval Moscato Sparkling White Wine, which was a little sweet and the perfect way to cap off our evening.Crispy Pork Belly from Brazil at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2016The Crispy Pork Belly served with Black Beans and Tomato was delicious. This is both a gluten free and dairy free dish and hands down a favorite festival dish for me from years past. I love the crispiness of the pork belly with the creaminess of the black beans. The tomatoes and onions add some texture and a bit of acid to the dish. The one big challenge with this dish is the cooking of the pork belly. I've had really amazing versions and really gross ones. This time, we both raved about the crispy pork belly, as it was perfectly cooked.Brazilian Cheese Bread at Brazil Booth 2016 Epcot Food & Wine FestivalThe Brazilian Cheese Bread is a gluten free favorite for many Food & Wine Festival visitors. This is not dairy free, as it contains both milk and cheese. Because I've been re-introducing a bit of dairy back into my diet, I did try this. I really enjoyed it and would definitely consider getting again. It seemed a fair price for the portion size and was nice to split.Overall, the Brazil booth is one of my favorite booths of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. It's also one of the few that is almost entirely gluten free. This makes it a must visit for any gluten free guest going to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. What do you think of the Brazil Marketplace Booth? What dish do you want to try?
