Dinner at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar at Disney Springs is a favorite spot for me and Brandon. We love going there and getting a few drinks and just chilling. It's been a while since we've gone and had a meal there, so we were glad to make a visit recently the night before Hurricane Irma hit. Disney Springs was slated to close at 9 p.m. that evening, and most restaurants had already stopped seating guests when we got there around 6:45 p.m., so we knew the place to go. Hangar Bar. I can't tell you how grateful we were to have a decent meal before the next few days of the hurricane passed, and we were extremely thankful for each and every cast member who worked that night to feed guests.
Atmosphere
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is one of the best themed restaurants on Disney property. If you love Indiana Jones or even just adventure, you will love the Hangar Bar.Typically, we like to sit inside the restaurant. But, when we visited, we opted to sit outside. With the impending hurricane on its way, there was a nice breeze, and the seating outside was fairly empty. We love that even on the outside the theming is just as detailed and well done. One of my favorite details are the coasters. If you visit the Hangar Bar, ask your server for a few. They have a bunch of different options, including the one above -- a nod to Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull and even one for Club Obi-Wan -- from Temple of Doom (and a Star Wars nod). They make for a great free souvenir too!Sitting outside, you get a great view of the Disney Springs resort area. Even before a hurricane and bad weather, you can see just how lovely the view is.
The Food
I've had a lot of people ask me if the food at the Hangar Bar is good for special diets guests. The short answer. Absolutely. That's because at the helm of the restaurant is Chef Paul. If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll recognize him as a chef who used to be at Port Orleans Resorts. He's really great at handling special dietary needs guests, so be sure to ask for him if you visit! Before we ordered our food, we also had a few drinks. Because when a hurricane is about to hit your state, you need a drink or two.Brandon and I both ordered the Temple Tenderloin which is a beef sandwich served with chimichurri bacon fries. The dish can be made both gluten free and dairy free. I had first heard about this dish from Alexis's Gluten Free Adventures and kept meaning to order it, so I was glad we did on this occasion.I have to say that both of us thought this sandwich was a real winner. For the price, the portion was huge, and the flavor was jam packed. The beef was tender and flavorful served on a Local Oven gluten free & dairy free bun. The sandwich also came with a side of au jus which was safe for me to eat and really gave the sandwich a bit of a flavor punch. The fries though were the absolute star of this dish. Both Brandon and I were raving about them. The chimichurri sauce was super flavorful and they were really well cooked. We both said we'd go and order just a side of these next time!
Overall
As always, Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is the perfect spot to get a drink and a bite to eat. Chef Paul and the team at the Hangar Bar do a great job at making quality food and drinks that can be accommodated for special diets. It really is one of my favorite places at Disney Springs and I think will continue to be for years to come.Have you been to the Hangar Bar? What do you order when you visit there?
