D-Luxe Burger Lunch Review

D-Luxe Burger is my go-to quick service restaurant whenever I'm in Disney Springs. Unlike most restaurants in Disney Springs, D-Luxe Burger is owned & operated by the Disney Company, which means they follow Disney's strict food allergy protocols for guests with special dietary needs. Even better, you also get to a talk to a Disney Chef too. On my most recent visit, I met up with my friend Ron who was in town visiting Disney World for a quick lunch.

Lunch at D-Luxe Burger

D-Luxe Burger is my go-to quick service restaurant whenever I'm in Disney Springs. Unlike most restaurants in Disney Springs, D-Luxe Burger is owned & operated by the Disney Company, which means they follow Disney's strict food allergy protocols for guests with special dietary needs. Atmosphere

I managed to forget to take photos on this visit. But, I've written quite a few reviews about D-Luxe Burger.

To learn more about its theme and extensive back-story, check out the review I wrote when the restaurant first opened in May 2016.

The Food

Unlike most Disney owned restaurants, D-Luxe Burger does not currently offer an allergy-friendly menu. But, guests with special dietary needs will get to speak with a Disney chef about options. I always appreciate this and that the chefs here take great care to answer questions and prepare your food safely.

D-Luxe Burger - Gluten Free Burger

D-Luxe Burger / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

Because we were having dinner at 'Ohana that night, we decided to split a D-Luxe Cheeseburger served on a gluten free bun with a side of French fries made in a dedicated fryer. We also ordered three dipping sauces -- the curry ketchup, chipotle mayo, and three honey mustard. These are all gluten free, but the chipotle mayo does currently contain dairy.

When it comes to burgers, you really can't go wrong with a burger from D-Luxe. And, we both agreed that the cheeseburger was outstanding. One big change that threw us both was the gluten free bun. In the past, D-Luxe Burger has used the Local Oven brand gluten free and dairy free bun. On this visit, it was a totally different (and much improved) bun. At first, we were both concerned we got a gluten-filled bun. But, we realized it was just a different brand. Although I haven't gotten 100% confirmation, I have heard from other readers that the buns are now Deanna's Gluten Free brand. Both of us agreed that the buns were a big improvement over the previous brand.

I think the one slight disappointment at D-Luxe Burger are the fries. They used to be really amazing. But, lately, we've noticed a big decline in the taste and texture of the fries. More often than not, they just taste a little stale. I'm sure they are fresh, but the overall texture and taste isn't as good as it used to be.

In fact, we noticed a big difference in the fries we got at Hangar Bar recently. The chef there told us they are the exact same fries as D-Luxe Burger. But, we all agreed, they were way better at the Hangar Bar. While it's not a reason to avoid D-Luxe Burger, it is something to think about when you order the fries there. Of course, I smother them in enough sauces that it helps too!

Overall

The burgers at D-Luxe Burger always impress. The flavors are outstanding, and there's always a good amount of options for guests with special dietary needs. While we usually stick to the basic cheeseburger, we've also had other specialty burgers on the menu with great success. If you're looking for a quick service restaurant in Disney Springs, this is definitely a great option for a low-key and filling meal.

Have you been to D-Luxe Burger? What did you think of their options?

D-Luxe Burger Dinner Review

*This gluten free dining experience took place in August 2018. Notes about dairy free options and modifications are included in this post.

Dinner at D-Luxe Burger

D-Luxe Burger, located in Disney Springs, is a quick service restaurant that serves up some of the best burgers on Disney property. It's also one of the few dining locations in Disney Springs that is owned and operated by the Disney Company, which means that they follow Disney protocol when it comes to handling special dietary needs. Plus, it's just plain delicious. Recently, we stopped by D-Luxe Burger for a quick dinner.

Atmosphere

D-Luxe Burger has a rustic theme and charm. It's meant to fit into the bigger story of Disney Springs (and is based off a former rancher), which is a nice touch. You can read about the restaurant's back-story in my post about my first visit to D-Luxe Burger.

There's lots of charm in this restaurant from the moment you walk inside.

Probably the only negative about D-Luxe Burger is the size. It's relatively small for a quick service restaurant. And, seating can be hard to find sometimes. Usually, Brandon and I find ourselves seated at the counter seating near the back of the restaurant because it's the only available option. The restaurant also doesn't have a bathroom. So, you'll need to use the facilities located nearby.

The Food

Of course, we visit D-Luxe Burger for the food. I think we would both have to agree that they have the best burgers on Disney property, especially compared to normal quick service burgers. There are lots of options available too. D-Luxe does not currently have an allergy-friendly menu. But, you will get to talk to a chef when you visit. They will make sure that your food is prepared safely and answer any questions you might have.

D-Luxe Burger Pager / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

After placing your oder, you'll be given a pager and your meal will be brought to you. If you have a special dietary need, your meal will be served in a to-go bag and not on a tray (if you're dining in).

D-Luxe Burger Classic Duo / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

D-Luxe Burger Classic Duo / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

Brandon and I ordered the Classic Duo combo. This can be easily made gluten free by swapping out the regular bun for a gluten free bun or lettuce wrap. The combo comes with two classic cheeseburgers, a regular French Fry, and two soft drinks. For those guests who are dairy free, you can order this combo without cheese to make it safe for your special dietary need.

The classic cheeseburger at D-Luxe Burger is served with lettuce, pickle, tomato, and onion. And, you can customize as needed. Brandon typically orders his without pickle or tomato. So, simply ask the cast member to remove these items from your order. If you want ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise, you can add as much or as little as you want after your burger arrives to your table.

D-Luxe Burger French Fries / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

D-Luxe Burger French Fries / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

The French fries at D-Luxe Burger are naturally gluten free and dairy free and are made in a dedicated fryer. This means that you don't have to worry about cross-contamination issues.

The fries have been a little inconsistent in our opinion. On some occasions, we have felt they tasted like they had been sitting around for a while or fried in very old oil. On this visit, we were pleasantly surprised and thought they were the tastiest we have had in a long time.

D-Luxe Burger Dipping Sauces / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

D-Luxe Burger Dipping Sauces / Photo Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW

Of course, ever the condiment queen, I can't help but enjoy lots of dipping sauces. And, D-Luxe Burger has plenty of them! All of the sauces at D-Luxe are gluten free. Be sure to speak to a chef about dairy free options. The last time I asked, the 3 Honey Mustard and Curry Ketchup (both pictured here) were both gluten free and dairy free. These two sauces, along with the chipotle mayonnaise, are my three favorite sauces. They are so delicious with the fries or even with your burger!

Overall

D-Luxe Burger continues to be one of our go-to quick service options in Disney Springs. With outstanding burgers, delicious fries, and tasty dipping sauces, you can customize the options to your heart's content. We've never had a bad burger here either. It is important to note that the prices are also a little on the high side. And, we recommend the combos as a potential option for cost savings. If you're craving burgers and fries, you really can't go wrong with D-Luxe Burger.

D-Luxe Burger -- Dinner -- Quick Service -- Disney Springs

*This dining experience took place in March 2017.

Dinner at D-Luxe Burger

When it comes to getting a good burger on Disney property, D-Luxe Burger, located at Disney Springs is a good place to get your burger fix. A quick service restaurant owned & operated by Disney, D-Luxe Burger is a solid quick service option, with simple, yet delicious options for guests who are gluten free and dairy free. They also carry a veggie burger (though I'm told it's not vegan or gluten free), for those looking for vegetarian options. Recently, we stopped by for dinner before going to see a movie at the AMC Theatre at Disney Springs.

Atmosphere

D-Luxe Burger has a charming back-story. You can read all about it on my post from my first visit. I do love the rustic theme. There's tons of exposed brick and cool light fixtures. My only complaint is that the restaurant is oddly set up. There are only two cash registers, which causes frequent bottle-necking and huge lines out the door. There's also a bit of seating in the front, and I always sort of feel bad for those folks sitting there, as they are right in the middle of the action, as the crowds pour in. The restaurant could have done with removing some of the seating up-front and adding in more cash registers.D-Luxe BurgerMy favorite section of the restaurant is in the far back. It includes some cozy benches and ample seating. Plus, it just feels a little less removed from all the hubbub up front.D-Luxe BurgerOn this visit, we ended up sitting outside in the covered seating area. Unfortunately, there just weren't good seating options inside. Thankfully, it wasn't too hot out, so we could enjoy eating outside without too much humidity and heat. But, in the summer, outside seating can be brutal -- even with fans and shade.Outdoor Seating D-Luxe Burger

The Food

But, I don't go to D-Luxe Burger for the atmosphere. To me, it's all about those burgers and fries. And, oh yes, they are worth a trip. On this visit, I decided to keep it simple with a cheeseburger and fries. Because I've been re-introducing dairy back into my diet a bit, I opted for the cheeseburger, but you can easily get a burger without cheese. I also got a side order of fries, which are made in a dedicated fryer, along with my favorite dipping sauces. If you can have dairy, get the chipotle mayo. You will not regret it! I also love the 3 mustard and honey (which is gluten free and dairy free) and chipotle mayo (also gluten free and dairy free). One word about the sauces. Do check with the chef when you order. I've been told by some readers that the 3 mustard and honey dip contains dairy, but I've been told by the chefs it doesn't. So, definitely check the ingredients before you consume.D-Luxe Burger & FriesOverall, I really enjoy the burgers here. They are a major step up from the typical frozen burger patties you find on Disney property. Plus, the toppings are top notch. I got my cheeseburger with a Local Oven gluten free bun. You can also get your burger in a lettuce wrap. I know that Alexis from Alexis's Gluten Free Adventures prefers the lettuce wrap. You can read about her experience on her blog.Fries at D-Luxe BurgerI have to admit, that my favorite part of the meal might be the fries. They are just insanely good. Fresh and handcut, they remind me of the type of fries from a fair or even at a restaurant like 5 Guys. The best part is that they are completely gluten free and dairy free and fried in a dedicated fryer.

Overall

D-Luxe Burger continues to be a solid choice for me whenever I got to Disney. The burgers are great and the fries are equally delicious. My only complaint would be the prices. It's expensive. For $10-$15, you are only getting a burger and need to pay another $5 for fries. If you're an annual passholder, there is currently a 20% discount which helps a lot. I know my burger and fries on this visit were around $12.75 with the discount for both, making it much more affordable. But, I've also paid around $25 at full price for a specialty burger and fries. Yikes. Still, if you're craving a good burger, D-Luxe is a good option with solid choices. If you're looking for less pricey options, you may be better off going to a table service restaurant for around the same price, or maybe a bit cheaper. But, if you're at Disney Springs, it's definitely a good go-to.Have you been to D-Luxe Burger? What did you think of the options?

D-Luxe Burger -- Dinner -- Quick Service -- Disney Springs

*This dining experience took place in January 2017.D-Luxe BurgerD-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs is a quick service restaurant owned and operated by the Disney Company that serves up burgers and fries. It's become another great gluten free and dairy free option for whenever I visit Disney Springs, and I enjoy both the atmosphere and the food. I also love the back story of the restaurant, which you can read about in my first blog post I wrote about D-Luxe Burger. On this particular occasion, we stopped by for dinner before a movie at AMC Disney Springs. We initially wanted to go to Blaze Pizza, but it was jammed, so we opted for D-Luxe Burger, which is a pretty close walk from Blaze.Brandon had yet to visit D-Luxe Burger, so he was excited to check out the burgers and fries. We both ended up with a cheeseburger (since I've been re-introducing a bit of dairy back into my diet, I decided to get the cheese on this visit, though you can easily make any burger dairy free by removing the cheese and certain sauces).D-Luxe Cheeseburger and FriesGluten free burgers at D-Luxe Burger are served in a lettuce wrap or on a gluten free bun, whichever you prefer. I decided to get the Local Oven gluten free bun, which was well heated. Brandon and I both agreed that the burgers are a step up from most Disney quick service burgers, but that the star of the meal was the order of fries we each got.Hand cut and perfectly fried, they are super delicious. Brandon likes his plain with just a bit of a salt while I, ever the condiment queen, love them with dipping sauces. I got the chipotle mayo (contains dairy), curry ketchup (gluten free and dairy free), and the honey mustard (gluten free and dairy free). I'm basically obsessed with their dipping sauces, and the chipotle mayo has to be my hands down favorite. All of the sauces at D-Luxe Burger are gluten free, but you'll want to confirm any other special dietary needs as many of the sauces do contain dairy. At this time, only the curry ketchup and honey mustard are both gluten free and dairy free.Overall, we both really enjoyed the meal -- though we both noted that this place is pretty pricey. The good news is throughout 2017, if you're a Disney annual passholder, you can get 20% off your bill, which does help. I'd probably opt for another Disney Springs restaurant on most occasion due to price and options, but I'm glad we got to go here again for the amazing fries and well-cooked burgers.Have you been to D-Luxe Burger? D-Luxe Burger -- Lunch -- Quick Service -- Disney Springs

*This dining experience took place in June 2016D-Luxe BurgerD-Luxe Burger, located at Disney Springs, is a quick service restaurant owned & operated by the Disney Company and one of the newest additions to Disney Springs. Offering burgers and fries, D-Luxe Burger is a great option when dining at Disney Springs.I was lucky enough to stop by D-Luxe Burger on opening day, and I finally got a chance to go back (it's always really crowded when I stop by). I was really looking forward to their house-made hand-cut French fries and dipping sauces.D-Luxe BurgerOn this particular occasion, I also got a chance to check out the details of the restaurant and even dined in the back area where there are so many neat touches.D-Luxe BurgerD-Luxe Burger has a charming back-story (which you can read about in my original review), and I loved seeing some of the details that touched on that back-story.Chicken Burger & Fries at D-Luxe BurgerOn my previous visit, I had the BBQ Burger (modified), and on this visit, I wanted to get something different. I spoke with a chef who confirmed that the chicken burger is gluten free and can be made dairy free (by removing the sauce), so I decided to get that.I also got a side order of fries with some dipping sauces.I will say that I did not really enjoy the chicken burger. I thought it tasted very bland, even with mayonnaise and avocado on it. I'd get a burger if I were going to eat there next time. Of course, the French fries were as amazing as the first time and definitely a must get. I may just order fries the next time I go there and not get anything else.Sauces at D-Luxe BurgerI've heard conflicting information about the dipping sauces at D-Luxe Burger. Chefs have told me that the ones pictured above are gluten free and dairy free (curry ketchup, honey mustard, and chipotle mayo), but I've heard readers tell me that they have been told only the curry ketchup is gluten free and dairy free. The most consistent information I've had is that the curry ketchup and honey mustard are dairy free but that the chipotle mayo is not. Next time I go, I will ask to see an ingredients list if possible, as it's very odd that there's so much confusion on these sauces by the chefs.Because I've been reintroudcing a bit of dairy back into my diet, I have ordered the chipotle mayo on both occasions. It's personally my favorite of the sauces. All of the sauces served at D-Luxe Burger are gluten free, so if you're gluten free only, you're in luck!I did also ask about the dessert macaron at D-Luxe Burger. A chef confirmed that this is not gluten free. If I were visiting there and wanting dessert, I'd probably go to Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC or Sprinkles Cupcakes next door.Overall, I like D-Luxe Burger, but find it to be very pricey. For less money I could go to the To-Go Counter at the newly opened Frontera Cocina or even Cookes of Dublin for more affordable and tastier gluten free & dairy free options.Have you been to D-Luxe Burger? What did you order when you visited there?

D-Luxe Burger -- Lunch -- Quick Service -- Disney Springs

*This dining experience took place in May 2016.Check out my YouTube walkthrough & dining review of D-Luxe Burger too. D-Luxe BurgerD-Luxe Burger is Disney Springs newest quick service restaurant, opening on May 15, 2016. Ever since learning about this restaurant, I've been waiting patiently (or maybe not so patiently!) for its grand opening. So needless to say, on grand opening day, I was there to saddle up and grab some burgers and fries. If you're wondering where D-Luxe Burger is, it's easy to find in Disney Springs. It's just across the new Town Center bridge, next to Morimoto Asia and Raglan Road Irish Pub.While many of the Disney Springs restaurants aren't owned and operated by the Disney Company, this one is, so I knew I was in for a real treat and great special dietary accommodations to boot!D-Luxe BurgerPhoto Taken by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDWIt was a very busy grand opening day, so I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked. But, be prepared for the onslaught of photos in this review. The restaurant is gorgeous and beautifully themed, and I didn't even scratch the surface on taking photos or investigating all the little details.D-Luxe BurgerWhile waiting in line (which lasted about 20 minutes due to popularity), one of the cast members told me about the history of D-Luxe Burger. It has a charming back-story about the Glowing Oak Ranch, which is the setting for the burger joint. In fact, if you look next to the restaurant, you'll notice an oak tree. Legend has it that when the sun hits it just right, it glows...hence the name "Glowing Oak Ranch."D-Luxe BurgerGlowing Oak Ranch was founded by the Sinclair family, and their son, headed out to the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904 and got the idea to open up a burger restaurant after enjoying the burgers at the Fair (that's a pretty good reason to "meet me in St. Louis!") Soon after D-Luxe Burger opened.D-Luxe Burger is a quick service restaurant so its menu is limited. It's burgers and fries, and honestly, you don't need anything else when it comes to simple and tasty food. According to Chef Bill and Chef Lenny, pretty much anything on the menu can be made gluten free (and most can be made dairy free) with simple modifications. Here's the current menu (note this does NOT include the modifications for special diets)

  • Classic Cheeseburger – Beef patty topped with cheddar, lettuce, tomato and pickle
  • Barbeque Classic Burger – Beef patty topped with a fried onion ring, smoked Gouda, bacon, barbeque sauce and lettuce
  • El Diablo Burger – Chorizo-and-signature-blend patty, fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayonnaise
  • Southern Classic Burger – Beef patty, topped with fried-green tomato, pimento cheese, lettuce and bacon
  • Cluck Burger – Ground chicken patty, garlic herb sauce, avocado, lettuce and tomato
  • Veggie Burger – house-made patty topped with Tzatziki, green bean salad, lettuce and tomato

D-Luxe BurgerThe great option with burgers here is that you can get a gluten free bun (currently, Local Oven brand) or a lettuce wrap, based on your preference. The chicken burger, which I was concerned might have a gluten filled binder, is gluten free, as is the veggie burger. The French Fries are made in a dedicated fryer, and I'm told by the chefs that this is the only thing put in the deep fryers. And, because you know I love a dipping sauce, every one of the sauces is gluten free!D-Luxe BurgerFor my order, I opted for a modified version of the BBQ Burger which was made without the fried onions and minus the cheese (the cheese is GF so you can get it with it, if you consume dairy). I also ordered a side of small fries and three, yes, three dipping sauces.I was then given a pager and told that I could pick my burger up at another counter in the restaurant. Everything at D-Luxe Burger is made "to go" so you can easily grab and go, take it out or eat it someplace else, or enjoy in the restaurant.BBQ Burger & Fries at D-Luxe BurgerWanting to enjoy in the new restaurant digs, I found a cozy spot outside with an amazing view of the new Disney Springs. It was a bit hot out, but there were ceiling fans outside that helped keep things cool too.As you can tell by the photos, the portions were pretty big at D-Luxe Burger. The burger, is hand formed and made to order. They aren't the pre-frozen burgers, which is great. Perfectly juice and smothered in BBQ sauce and thick cut bacon, lettuce, and tomato, this was a delicious burger. Probably my only complaint was that the bun was just a little dry because it wasn't heated properly. But overall, a really solid and delicious burger. It was messy, so make sure you grab some napkins at the table too!Dipping Sauces at D-Luxe BurgerThe hands down winner for me at D-Luxe Burger are the hand cut French Fries. Holy moly. Just order these. They are totally worth it. They are slightly thick-cut and so flavorful. I was told that they take 3 days to make. 3 DAYS! All that preparation is worth it because these were so good.Even better where the dipping sauces. The three that I had were curry ketchup, honey mustard, and chipotle mayo. *Note: I was told that these three sauces were both gluten free & dairy free; however, others have noted that the chefs told them the only dairy free sauce is the curry ketchup. Update: As of June 3, I have had reports that chefs have noted the only dairy free sauces to be the honey mustard and curry ketchup (both pictured above). The curry ketchup tasted like a homemade ketchup with curry powder in it. It was thick and not overpowering on the curry. The honey mustard was so good and one I will get every time I go there. But, for me, the favorite was the chipotle mayo. Not too spicy and a little sweet, it's the perfect vessel for a French fry!If you go to D-Luxe, get the sauces. Just do it. You will not regret it.D-Luxe BurgerI loved the food at D-Luxe Burger, and as you can tell by this photo, I really loved the food, especially those fries.View from D-Luxe BurgerAfter scarfing down all that delicious food, I took a bit to chill and relax at the outdoor seating and enjoy the beautiful Disney Springs view.Outdoor Seating D-Luxe BurgerAnd, I also took a tour of the restaurant to check out all the seating, which is pretty spacious.D-Luxe BurgerOverall, I really enjoyed my visit to D-Luxe Burger. I hope to go back soon & try some of the other options and explore more. Plus, I really need those fries and dipping sauces in my life! What are you most looking forward to when visiting D-Luxe Burger?
